A bride’s wedding day should be one of the happiest days of her life. And when she’s totally confident and feeling beautiful on her big day it’s important to have the right wedding accessories to help complete the look. From a small handkerchief to an amazing perfume, there are lots of accessories to consider, but here are some of the critical ones to keep in mind.
1. Shoes
When you’re looking at Lace and Favour, you’re sure to find something you’ll love. The pair of shoes you wear on your wedding day are critical to both you look and your comfort. When choosing a shoe, think about your wedding venue. An outdoor wedding may not pair well with a stiletto. A wedge or flat shoe may offer better support. Shoes are a great place to add a splash of color if you’re wearing all white. It’s also important to keep in mind that selecting your shoes before your dress is hemmed and fitted will ensure the dress is the perfect length.
2. Veil
Most people consider a veil to be a staple of any wedding outfit. Veils are versatile, and can be as long or as short as you want them to be. Think from cathedral length to birdcage. They can even be layered. Some brides decide to opt out of the veil, there are plenty of other options when a veil is not on your wish list of bridal accessories. There’s something about a fascinator that excites and fascinates. There are also halos, flower crowns, tiaras, hair combs, and barettes. What you choose is completely up to what feels good to you, although some head accessories tend to work better with specific hairstyles.
3. Jewelry
Even the most minimalist bride can appreciate a little bit of jewelry. A pair of pearl stud earrings are a beautiful light touch to finish a bride’s look. And for someone who wants a little more pizzazz, a pair of shimmering dangly earrings is fab. A more modern bride might be drawn to a teardrop necklace and a thin diamond bracelet. There is no right or wrong way to do your wedding jewelry. Your jewelry for the day could even be your “something old” if you have heirloom jewelry. It’s a nice way to incorporate your family and traditions that are close to your heart.
4. Underwear
What you’re wearing under your dress is just as important as the dress itself. The wrong choice here will change the look and feel of your dress. When you purchase your dress, be sure to make note of whether or not it has built-in support. Ask the salesperson what undergarments are recommended with your dress. Your underwear could be simple shapewear, seamless panties, or a strapless bra or structured bustier may be necessary. If you’re interested in having a certain shape, look, and sleekness, you’ll want to have the right underwear on your side.
5. Garter
Here’s the hidden sexy–the garter. It’s part of the big fun during the reception, and it makes you really feel like a sexy, blushing bride. If you’re looking for the “something blue” to add to your wedding items, the garter is a great place to add it. Many brides choose to wear two garters. One is for the groom to toss during the reception and the other is for you and your groom to cherish as a keepsake. Even if you opt not to do a garter toss, it’s still a great memento of the day that’s easy to keep, unlike a dress. Your garter doesn’t have to be the traditional lace, either. It could be leather or even a favorite sports team logo.
6. Outerwear
If you’re tying the knot in the cooler months, a shawl, shrug, or stole might be a great option for you. If you intend on taking photos outside a faux fur cape stole will add a touch of glam that will give stunning photos. And if fur isn’t your thing, maybe you’ll appreciate a feathered stole or a hand woven shawl. What about a custom leather jacket? There’s no need to don the favored bolero jacket if you’re not the traditional bride. Go ahead and think outside of the box and wear what rings true for you.
7. Gloves
Not everyone loves a pair of gloves, but if you love the idea of classic Hollywood or early 20th century fashion, gloves are a wonderful accessory. If you want to modernise the classic glove look, try sheer fingerless gloves. Keep in mind that gloves come in a variety of lengths if the idea of an over the elbow glove doesn’t appeal to you. Likewise, gloves come in a wide range of materials. Satin and lace are some of the more traditional options, but you can also use tulle or crochet or leather, even. It’s all about embracing your style.
8. Purse
While most brides don’t walk down the aisle with a purse, it’s nice to have one on standby to hold your important items. Some lipstick or lip balm, breath mints, tissue, and marriage license are just a few things that you may want to have with you during the reception. Of course, you won’t be walking down the aisle with it, but a bridesmaid, hostess, or trusted guest can keep it safe for you until you’re ready for it. It could be a cute and classic shoulder bag or maybe a monogrammed acrylic clutch with your new initials, or even a woven handbag for a more tropical feel. It’ll really make a statement as you and your new husband make your exit.
9. Slippers
This may sound a little unnecessary, but a good pair of slippers will save the entire day. Whether you’re getting ready to walk down the aisle, or looking for a little reprieve for your feet after or during the reception, some comfy slippers will make your day easier. While you’re getting your makeup and hair done, it’s nice to let your feet relax while you’re hanging with your bridesmaids and prepping. Once you’re in your dress and off to your wedding venue, it may be a while before your feet get to rest again. And if you chose form over function with your wedding shoes, your feet will definitely be looking for something soothing to slip into after your big day.
Of course, there are other accessories, but remember that it’s important to edit. You don’t want to overdo it. You’re going to be a beautiful bride.
