So, you’ve just got engaged… congratulations!
Now for the fun part; planning the wedding venue, what music you want as you walk down the aisle, and of course your dress, hair and makeup. As a bride-to-be, when you approach the subject of your wedding day, you may suddenly start to notice small imperfections with yourself and feel more self-conscious.
Don’t worry; this is normal! We all get nervous leading up to that special day because our wedding day is the most important day of our lives and we want to look our best.
There are some great ways that you can take the small time you have between looking through wedding catalogs and visiting venues to get your self-esteem in tip-top shape and prepare yourself for the big day.
Meditation
The first step to truly getting yourself back on track and feeling great again is to look after your mental health. You want to feel confident and sexy on your wedding day, and the first step to achieving this is sorting out your psychological state. Because you won’t have much time to yourself as you plan your wedding, a great way to look after yourself for a short time each day. Meditation only has to take 5-10 minutes each morning, and it allows you to shut out all of your stress and worries, and focus instead on the function of your body. It has been proven that meditating every day can lower blood pressure, prevent stress and make people happier. There are plenty of great meditation apps you can download which will talk you through the process and teach you how to do it.
Pamper Session
Looking after your skin during the weeks leading up to your wedding is crucial because you don’t want to end up with blemishes. Taking the time once a week to have a long bath and read your favorite book will give you that all-important me time and allow you to relax for a short period. You can use this opportunity to also look after your skin and leave you feeling glowing and confident. Apply a clay face mask, wash it off and take the time to exfoliate and cleanse your skin, top it off with a moisturizing oil and feel radiant by the time it comes to your wedding day.
Hair Care
Our hair is a huge part of our personality. It is what many people will notice first about us from a distance, and it can define who we are as a person. How we care for our locks will determine how confident we feel. So instead of just using shampoo and conditioner like you always do, why not take the time once a week to either apply a hair mask or some nourishing oils to your hair, leave it in for an hour or so and then wash your hair as normal. If you do this each week, it will make your hair spring back to life, feel shiny and soft, and let your natural curls be defined and bouncy. If you don’t want to spend the money on a mask, you can make your own hair oil at home. Simply find an empty container and fill it with a mix of any of these oils:
- Olive Oil
- Castor Oil
- Avocado Oil
- Argan Oil
- Almond Oil
- Macadamia Oil
- Coconut Oil
Doing this each week will allow you to let your natural hair free and make you feel beautiful and confident. It will make your hair shine on those wedding photos too!
Oral Health
There is nothing more beautiful than a smile. It lights up your whole body and makes everyone around you happy in turn. Because of this, you will want to spend a little effort on making that smile healthy and keeping your mouth healthy too. Oral health is something that many of us neglect a little bit, but it is crucial for our confidence to be able to love our smile. Remember to brush your teeth for 2 minutes each morning and night; it might be worth setting a timer on your phone to remind you, and use mouthwash every day. Floss your teeth once a week to get rid of any plaque build up too. If you want to whiten your teeth to get the perfect smile, there are some great ways that you can do this at home without having to pay for someone to bleach your teeth. You can learn how to whiten teeth fast at teeth whitening at home tips and get your smile looking like a Hollywood star before you know it.
Natural Makeup
Although on your wedding day you may want to go all out and glam it up with fake lashes and killer highlight, just try and remember that your husband-to-be loves you naturally. To enhance your natural beauty and make you feel confident: all you need is a little concealer, maybe some foundation, powder to set it and mascara for your lashes. That’s it! You are beautiful as you are, you don’t need to change how you look, even for the big day.
Gentle Exercise
Once you’ve picked out your dream dress and tried it on, you will want to make sure you look fit and healthy on your wedding photos. It will take a little bit of work to get your body to mold into the curves of your dress, but you don’t need to go to the gym each day to get the body you want. You don’t need to get back to the gym right away- instead, use YouTube videos to practice some gentle exercise in your living room in-between planning your table arrangements and wedding favors. You’ll soon notice the difference in your body, and pairing this with a balanced and healthy diet will get you fitting into the perfect dress like a glove in no time. You’ll feel confident, sexy and beautiful for your wedding.

In my opinion it is necessary to take care of yourself several months before the wedding. Start practicing, make a beautiful smile and healthy complexion. Go to a beautician and set up a plan of action, the same hairdresser will help you take care of your hair. Exercise and drink plenty of water. And most importantly: Be confident that you are beautiful and all these people will bring your wedding to you because they love you.
