It’s your big day, your wedding day! There’s going to be a lot going on the day before and the day of your wedding. There’s a lot of things to spread your attention across and important tasks you must get right.
Our goal is to help you be ahead of the curve, relaxed, and ready to enjoy your wedding. Here’s our 5 tips to help you get ready on your wedding day.
#1 Organizing Your Personal Effects
On the day of your wedding you don’t want to spend your time searching for anything. Save yourself the hassle by setting out everything you’re going to need the day before. Set out absolutely every little thing you will need.
You’re inevitably going to think of something last minute you may need. Laying out your items the day before will reduce your chances of forgetting something important. It’s all about being proactive when planning the big day.
So, no matter how important or unimportant you think something may be go ahead and set it out. I’ve seen men go as far as laying out a pack of chewing gum, toothpicks, and other small items you wouldn’t think of the day of your wedding.
One major tip is to bring spare clothing. You never know when an accidental spill will happen and having back up clothing can save the day. A second pair of everything including your underwear!
#2 Grooming the Groom
On the day of your wedding you want to be the most groomed you’ve ever been. Take time to treat areas you don’t typically manage on a daily basis. Look over your hands, nails, eyebrows, and every small facial feature. You want to look your absolute best!
You’re also going to need a good shave on your wedding day. This may be a good time to let a professional barber handle your shave. You don’t want to spend your time focusing on how to stop itching after shaving while wearing a suit. You have enough things to focus on.
The best time to visit a barber for this would be right before closing time. This way you’re getting shaved the day before your wedding at a time that will ensure you won’t have a five o’clock shadow in your pictures.
Since your hair is going to be a huge focal point in your wedding pictures make sure to spend extra time on it. One pro tip is to use a leave in conditioner for men that will provide a healthy shine during the day.
My last grooming tip for you is to not go too extreme. You don’t want to try a new haircut or hair dyes because something may go unexpected. Instead focus on the touch ups you can do in your grooming routine. Do this and you’ll look very handsome on the big day!
#3 Give Yourself Time
Give yourself extra time for everything. Your day is going to be busy, but you can avoid the stress of rushing for something and being late for another by allocating ample time for every task.
Your day should be scheduled out for everything you need to do. Be early for anywhere you need to go by at least 10 minutes and for anything you expect to take time give it extra time. So, if you’re picking up a cake and you expect it to take 15 minutes go ahead and act like it’ll take you 30 minutes.
You may think this is a small change but by doing this you can really open your day and relieve a lot of stress. Write it all down and write it down with extra allotted time. It’s more important than you think and you don’t want to be stressed out when you’re trying to make memories on your big day.
#4 Get More Sleep
This may sound like a no brainer but seriously… give yourself more sleep the night before your wedding. If you can sleep a solid 12 hours do it. You don’t want to be sleep deprived during your big day so go to bed early the night before and get extra sleep.
It may be difficult to fall asleep. You’re going to be like a child on Christmas night so have a glass of wine, play some relaxing music, and do everything you can do to fall asleep on time.
#5 Don’t Stress the Small Stuff
My final tip for you is to not sweat the small stuff. Not everything is going to go perfectly as planned but don’t let that ruin your day. This day should be about you and your significant other. If something goes wrong just face it that it’s out of your control and your day will continue on.
Focus your attention on the person you’re getting married to. There’s plenty of things you could stress over but don’t there’s no need to. Instead let your day play out and enjoy yourself but just don’t forget the rings!
