Tell us a bit about yourself and what are the benefits of having childcare at your wedding?
My name is Aisling Ross and in 2019 I took a leap of faith and started my own business, The Wedding Nanny. At the time it was just myself and fast forward 5 years I have a team of 18 nannies working all over Ireland. Our nannies are trained to a high standard and have years of experience working with children of all ages, ranges and abilities. Our nannies also travel all over the world providing high quality childcare for children attending weddings.
Of course there a lots of benefits for hiring a Wedding Nanny, I’ll go through the main benefits.
1. Safety of your child; Hiring a Wedding Nanny means that there will be constant eyes and ears on your child during the wedding, most wedding venues have beautiful lakes, forests and gardens which of course pose a risk when children are involved. The nanny onsite will ensure a risk and safety assessment has been carried out before meeting the children and will be aware of any risks associated with the venue which could be missed if the child is being cared for by a number of different family members. Leave it to the professionals to know where the child is at all times!
2. Fun; A Wedding Nanny will ensure that the child is going to have the most amount of fun possible, we will organise plenty of activities from adventure hunts, nature trails, jig saws, arts and crafts – whatever the child has an interest in the nanny will be sure to plan around it. Continuity of care; The most popular package we offer is 24 hours which means the child is with their Wedding Nanny from early on the wedding morning, all throughout the day and of course overnight while everyone is partying! The nanny will know the child’s routine and ensure they don’t miss any naps, feeds and this will of course benefit the child as they are kept to their routine ensuring a happy child! Something as simple as a nap can easily be missed when two or three family members are “tag teaming” the care!
Is child care for an event on or offsite?
We offer childcare on site and off site, whatever the preference of the family! If the wedding is child friendly the children will be involved in the celebrations where appropriate and also as much as they are capable – it’s common for the children to get overwhelmed and overstimulated so the nanny plans plenty of movement and activities to ensure the children are kept occupied and regulated while still being around their family and friends celebrating a special occasion!
Is there a certain age range for the children you watch?
We have no age limit on our services. The youngest we’ve cared for was a 4 week old baby and the oldest child we’ve looked after was 15. Generally the older children are “too cool” for a nanny however if the child has additional needs they probably require care and we can adapt our care strategies for the older children where required.
Are there any other services you offer to support the wedding couple?
We offer a pre – wedding call to get to know the children’s likes, dislikes and routines, this call helps to plan out the wedding day and learn about the desired involvement on the big day. We also offer constant Whatsapp communication support on the days leading up to and of course the wedding day where the family will receive updates about what the children are getting up to! The nanny takes the time to send every single child a specialised video that the children watch in the lead up to the big day and get to know their nanny!
