Tell us a bit about yourself and what are the benefits of having childcare at your wedding?
I’m Tish Davis, the Chief Fun Officer of Elegant Event Sitters. Inc. I’m a wife and a mom of 3 young women and a bonus son. I began to learn how to entertain large groups of children during my time as a Girl Scout leader.
I started this business without a friend 20 years ago in the Atlanta market. Over the years we’ve grown to nationwide coverage.
Having childcare at weddings has grown in popularity over the years. It’s amazing how far this industry has come since I first started. Some advantages of providing child care at weddings are increased attendance, less stress for the couple and the guests.
The number one benefit: Keeping the children SAFE. Parents can get distracted by catching up with friends, dancing and doing other adult things. Having the children in a controlled environment eliminates the worry and guests can just focus on having fun.
Don’t like disruptions? Child care can fix that. We’ve had couples that say that they don’t want crying babies on the wedding video or children over taking the dance floor.
Having a separate kid area also cuts down on costs by eliminating the need of additional place settings, seating and other things that are priced per person.
Is child care for an event on or offsite?
The child care is held at on-site at the venue. That way the parents can check in on the kids. I also find that parents are more comfortable leaving their children when they are in the same building.
Occasionally we have requests to host the child care in a different location if the venue isn’t kid friendly or space is not available. We’re flexible!
Is there a certain age range for the children you watch?
No limit! The most common ages that are in our care range from 4 months to age 11. There have been children as old as18 at times. Newborns have also been present occasionally.
Are there any other services you offer to support the wedding couple?
Absolutely! Care is available prior to the wedding. Sometimes the people in the wedding party have children and need care during hair and makeup. Rehearsal dinner care is also popular. Hotel room sitters are available if the guests need a night out, spa appointments or group care isn’t being offered.
