winter honeymoon

So, you got married! First of all, congratulations. Secondly, now it’s time to think about your honeymoon, the trip that we are looking forward to. Since it’s winter, and it’s probably quite difficult for you to perceive the idea of a winter honeymoon, we’re here with a couple of tips on how to organize the best and most luxurious honeymoon you’ve always wanted. Starting with the things you need to bear in mind, the things that you need to pack in your suitcase and the potential destinations that you could hit with your husband, this guide is here to actually make things easier for you. Take a look:

1. Pre-planning

Before actually choosing your destination, it’s very important to check if your passports are still valid (even though you might think that this step is unnecessary, you won’t believe how many people had to cancel their trip because of their passport being expired). So, once you got that checked, the best idea would be to determine your budget. Make sure that most of it will go on the plane tickets and the accommodation, but it’s still very important to have plenty of funds for you stay there, as this will tell you where to wine and dine. When you decide on a location (scroll down for a couple of perfect winter honeymoon destination tips), make sure that you have all the booking info and the plane tickets with you printed at all times. This is something that you cannot repurchase on the airport or your destination, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

2. What else to pack

This greatly depends on the place that you will be visiting, but some things just have to find their way to your suitcase. You’re going on a honeymoon, so it’s your job to look fashionable anywhere you go, and this means packing all the pieces of clothing that you like the most. For example, having trendy boyfriend jeans in your suitcase is always a great option as they look fashionable with both sneakers and heels, depending on the occasion. If you’re going someplace warm, bring the best tees and open-toe heels that you have. If you are, on the contrary, heading to a colder destination, then bringing the most fashionable (and warm) coats and jackets is a must. Do we have to mention a camera?

3. The winter honeymoon destinations

Is there anything more romantic then going on a honeymoon, a celebration of your marriage, to a winter wonderland? Probably not, but then again, there are those people who simply prefer some hotter destinations.

Switzerland magic

The best place to visit if you’re into winter wonderland is definitely Switzerland. If you go there while it’s snowing, you’ll feel like you’re trapped in a giant snowball, with some of Switzerland’s most beautiful palaces and castles covered in snow. It’s definitely something that you should experience at least once in your life, and make sure to bring your camera as the photos will be mesmerizing.

Iceland magnificence

If you think there’s anything more wondrous then the Northern Lights, you’re wrong. This is perhaps one of the most beautiful sights you can experience, and the best way to experience it is from September to March, which means this is an excellent opportunity. This is also a haven for all the lovers of colder weather and this type of nature, as Iceland has it all: glaciers, ice caves, lava fields and hot springs.

Rio de Janeiro

If you are, on the other hand, looking for something much warmer and a place where you can even swim, then Brazil might be the destination for you. Rio de Janeiro is quite hot in December and January (around 40 degrees Celsius / 104 degrees Fahrenheit) so it’s a great destination for a swim and a late summer holiday. Make sure to check Copacabana, the longest beach in the world – you will be amazed.

Miami

Very classy and glamorous, yet also cool and arty, Miami can also be a great destination for your warm winter honeymoon. This is also a great place where you would want to spend your New Year’s Eve – perhaps in a classy hotel while drinking the tastiest cocktails and eating the most delicious finger food. During the day you can lie on the beaches of Miami Beach, while during the night you could hit the South Beach bars and have a great time with your husband.

Everything matters – from the clothes you will wear and the places you will see to the hotels you will be staying at. This is why it’s very important to plan your honeymoon in great detail, as (hopefully) you won’t get another chance to do that!
