The Blushing Bride: How to Feel Beautiful on Your Big Day

If there’s one day in a woman’s life that she wants to feel at her most beautiful, then it’s of course her wedding day. Not only do you want to feel great in yourself but you want to wow your groom and of course feel nice in front of all of your family and friends. To make sure you’re at the very best you can be, here are some ideas to consider!

Work on your physique

Something that most brides will do in the run up to their big day is work on their physique, after all, you want to feel confident on your big day and ensure your dress fits you flawlessly. If you want to lose a significant amount of weight then this is something you’ll need to do many months to a year or more before your wedding day, if you just want to lose or gain a few pounds and tone up then this can be done in a shorter timescale. Since your arms and shoulders are on show in most wedding dresses then you could ensure that your workout regime effectively targets these areas. If you have a figure hugging dress such as a mermaid cut then you might want to work on exercises that pull in the waist and stomach. If you’re a newbie to exercise then it can be a smart move to hire a personal trainer. Let them know your goals and you can build a regime that helps you to achieve the figure you want.

Start a skincare regime

The way your skin looks is so important, it’s the first thing people see when they look at you and the condition it’s in can make you feel confident or self conscious depending. On your wedding day, you of course want to be the best version of yourself and so put together a skincare regime early and stick with it. If you have any skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema or acne, seek professional help from your GP. They can put you on the right treatment plan, help you to manage your symptoms and give you advice. Again, be sure to do this many months before your wedding, as you don’t want to be trying new things close to the big day in case you have a reaction.

Make sure you’re happy with your hair

The old saying goes, ‘your hair is the ball gown you never take off.’ You might have a stunning dress, but hair is definitely the finishing look and a huge part of your overall appearance on your wedding day. Start off by taking care of your hair, go to the hairdresser and have them cut off all of the split ends. Buy some products that are right for you, and spend months getting it into the best condition possible. Do a number of hair trials before your wedding day so you can find a style that’s right for you and you feel happy and confident in.

Try a variety of makeup looks

The great thing about makeup is you can easily play around with different looks. Unlike your hair (if you cut it or change the colour you’re pretty committed to that look) with makeup, if you don’t like it you can simply wash it off. Experiment with different products and looks, and in the weeks before your wedding day have a makeup artist trial a couple of different ideas. If you usually wear makeup and are a big fan of it then chances are you’ll have some idea of how you want things on your big day, if you don’t usually wear it then it can be a bit more daunting. Something to bear in mind is that if you’re usually a barefaced beauty then don’t go too heavy for your wedding day. A more natural look to accentuate your features will mean you’re still recognisable, go with a complete transformation and you might not like the finished result or even recognise yourself!

Find the right dress

Being a bride means getting to wear the most beautiful dress you’ve ever worn, and getting this right is a huge decision. More and more people are buying online these days which is a great way to save money, but it can be risky. Even if you plan on buying online, be sure to go into a wedding dress shop or even a prom dress shop and try on a couple of styles. That way you can get an idea of which cuts look like on your figure- some might surprise you and look great and the initial ideas you wanted you might realise didn’t look as nice as you thought. At least that way when you come to buy online you can choose a cut and shape that you know works for you.

Search wedding photography styles

Finally, your wedding photographer is responsible for pulling everything together and capturing all of the magical moments of the day. Different wedding photographers will all have different styles, and so you’ll need to search through a list of wedding photographers and see which portfolios you like the look of the most. See how they capture different brides and the way their pictures turn out, that way you can be sure you’ll love the finished album. If you have any specific shots you’d like capturing such as the intricate details on your dress or getting ready before the ceremony then discuss this with them ahead of time.
