When you take a look at the articles associated with weddings, you will see that more than 90% of them are specifically written for women and for the people who will be in charge of the organization. Apart from that, you will find a plethora of options on how to properly dress for the wedding if you’re a girl or what things you have to have in mind when you’re a bride. But what about the guys? A groom should also look very formal and handsome, so where are the groom’s guide guidelines that they should follow if they have nobody to help them out? Luckily for you, we are here, so take a look at some of the most important tips that you should have in mind if you’re a groom and you have a wedding coming up:

Suit up

Obviously, you will suit up for your own wedding. But buying a suit is more than just going to the store and choosing the one that you like the most. First things first, make sure that you know what color you want to incorporate. This is something that should be discussed with the bride beforehand, as perhaps you have a color that will be featured throughout the wedding, so it is good to know these things before you go to buy your suit. Once there, make sure that your suit has all the necessary parts – pants, a blazer, choose your shirt and decide if you’re going to wear a two or three-piece suit.

Choose the accessories

Before you start working on the suit (as it will be discussed a bit down), decide what accessories you are going to rock at your wedding. You do not want to overdo it, but of course, everything depends on your personal style. Do not make your accessories decide the type of your suit though, it should be the other way around. A good watch is, for example, a must have accessory for a wedding. If you want to be more modern and have something that is very bold and cool, you might want to try with a fashionable skeleton watch that will give you just a dash of a steampunk vibe, a vibe that will make you more interesting and elegant. There is a plethora of watches that you can choose from, so make sure that choose the right one. Apart from the watches, you can go with a bracelet and a ring (that will not overshadow your wedding ring of course), but stay away from necklaces and crazy jewelry.

The footwear

As far as shoes are concerned, you want to go with something that is high-quality and very formal. Do not plan on wearing sneakers or casual shoes – this “fun” trend is actually quite passe, so what you want to look for are elegant shoes such as the classic Oxfords. The Oxford shoe is perhaps the safest option as you know you will look amazing in them.

Mind the size

Size matters! Right now, we are talking about the size of your suit. This is why one of the most important things to do is to have your suit tailored by a good tailor. It is always better when you have a custom-made suit as this is what will ensure that all of your good features get the attention they deserve. A tailor will also hide your insecurities and the suit will, overall, look amazing on you. If you ever have to choose between buying an already-made suit or a suit that is custom-made, make sure to choose the latter one!

Groom’s guide Separates

On the other hand, there are grooms who nowadays refuse to wear a suit, but rather buy separate items that they mix together. This is a very modern way of creating an interesting look, and if done correctly, it can look amazing, really. If you want to be bolder and go with this option, start with the blazer and look for one that looks good on you. Only when you decide on your favorite blazer, chose contrasting pants. This is very important: the pants should not be of the same color as your blazer, as why would you want to choose separates in that case? If you do not know which colors go together, consult a color wheel. Pay attention to the shirt and the patterns that you have – you can always ask for help from a stylish friend or somebody else who’s into fashion.

It might seem that a groom doesn’t have a lot of work prior to the wedding, but the truth is completely different. The suit has to be impeccable, to accentuate all your good features and make you look very handsome. And with a bit of groom’s guide effort, it will not be difficult.
